ABOUT US

Africian Child Ministries was formed, when 3 Greenisland men shared a vision, to do something practical to help the children in Africa. Much prayer and thought was given as to the best way to do this, so 2 of these men, Tony and John went to Kenya to live and work among the Maasai people in Narok and Olkinyiei SW Kenya. Here they saw a great need to help the many children who have been orphaned by aids and other disease.

When they arrived home and after much prayer and discussion, a weekly market stall was set up selling fruit, veg and groceries in September 2005 and so funding began. A permanent shop was then opened in Carrickfergus in June 2008 and due to its continued success we have had to move to bigger premises this year.

In Africa we work in partnership with Acacia Grove Mission based in Olkinyiei South Narok. We also employ a full time worker who co-ordinates our work in North Narok and the Narok District. We were able to purchase a motorbike to help him visit the children at school and at home.

We currently sponsor approximately 50 children and with God’s help it is our intention in the immediate future to sponsor more schools totalling some 500 children and help to look after their physical, medical and spiritual welfare.

We have already been involved in building school extensions and supplying water catchment systems (to ensure there is safe drinking water) as well as improving existing premises.

We are continuing to educate the children as well as provide uniforms, books, pencils and shoes, and are currently planning to provide a 4 x 4 vehicle to help with food distribution and medical evacuation.

We plan to continue investing heavily in this area of Kenya and would like to thank everyone who has supported and continues to support our work. Please take time to watch the short video clip below.
